Our Curriculum

At Hunt Community Early Learning Centre, our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard. We provide a high-quality, play-based program that supports each child’s learning, development, and wellbeing.

Child-Centred & Play-Based Learning

Our curriculum is built around each child.

We follow children’s interests, strengths, and ideas to create meaningful learning experiences. Through play, children explore, investigate, and develop skills across all areas of learning. Educators support and extend this learning through intentional interactions and thoughtful planning.

Nature-Based Approach

Nature is at the heart of our program.

Children engage daily with natural environments and materials, supporting their curiosity, creativity, and wellbeing. Through outdoor play and nature experiences, children develop independence, resilience, problem-solving skills, and a strong connection to the environment.

Intentional Teaching

Our educators are purposeful in their teaching.

We extend children’s thinking through open-ended questions, conversations, and shared experiences. Learning is embedded throughout the day—including play, routines, and group times—creating rich opportunities for growth and development.

Inclusion & Cultural Respect

We celebrate diversity and promote a sense of belonging.

Our curriculum reflects and respects each child’s background, culture, and identity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded in daily practice, and children are supported to value differences and build inclusive relationships.

Children’s Voice & Agency

Children are active participants in their learning.

We encourage children to share ideas, make choices, and contribute to their environment. This supports confidence, independence, and a strong sense of identity.

Partnerships with Families

We value strong partnerships with families.

By working together, we build a shared understanding of each child’s learning and development. Family input helps shape our program and supports continuity between home and the centre.
